Background | Buniaviruses are spherical, enveloped and segmented negative-strand RNA viruses, named after samples first isolated from Buniawiera in western Uganda. Buniaviruses are known to include more than 200 viruses and are the largest family of arboviruses. Bunyavirus is a natural infection found in many vertebrates and arthropods, and can cause influenza- or dengue-like illness, hemorrhagic fever, and encephalitis in humans. |
