Background | Poly(ε-caprolactone)-block-poly(ethylene glycol)-carboxylic acid (PCL-PEG-COOH) is a functional amphiphilic block copolymer (ABC) which has carboxylic group at the end of PEG block and is used to prepare nanoparticles and micelles for targeted drug delivery. PCL-PEG is one of the most commonly used biodegradable ABC polymers for drug delivery. PCL-PEG-COOH is an amphiphile polymer with hydrophobic polycaprolactone (PCL) and hydrophilic PEG. The self-assembling polymer forms micelles which can be used to entrap hydrophobic drugs. The terminal carboxyl can react with amine in the presence of HATU or EDC to form a stable amide bond. |
